Killing processes in Command Prompt provides much more control and the ability to end multiple processes at once. This can be done with taskkill command, You can kill a process by the process ID (PID) or by image name (EXE filename). Open Command Prompt and run tasklist to see all of the running processes.
C:\>tasklist

Tasklist gives you all the process running on your PC. All the process running on your PC has Image name and PID as shown above, let's say if you want to end notepad process, you need to type below command on your command prompt
C:\>Taskkill /IM notepad.exe /F
or
C:\>Taskkill /PID 11760 /F
The /f flag is kills the process forcefully. In some cases failure to use the /F flag will result in nothing happening.
