How to Change the Default Folder Icon in Windows 7 ?
Now you can change the folder icon to choice of yours following this simple registry tweak.
Step I - Go to start menu and type regedit. You'll need to OK a User Account Control Prompt first.

Step II - Navigate in the left tree view to the following location as shown below
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer
Step III - In the left pane, right- click Explorer and from the menu select New Key.
Step IV - Type Shell Icons and press Enter.
Step V - Now, click Shell Icons and in the right pane, right click any empty space.
Step VI - From the menu, select New – String Value.
Step VII - Type 3 and hit Enter.
Step VIII - Right-click the key called 3 and Modify.
Step IX - Type the path leading to the icon or image you want to use as default folder icon.
Note : You must use a 256×256 pixel icon .ico. Use google to find this icon and save to your computer.
Step X - Restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
