Common virus symptoms include the following:

1. System will not boot from the hard disk, but will boot fro a floppy disk or CD/DVD.

2. Floods of e-mail messages sent to a list of users.

3. Application will not run properly.

4. Files are deleted, deposited, or have been altered. Includes unexplained changes to file sizes.

5. The system behaves slowly, due to increased network traffic generated by the virus, or by connections made possible by the Trojan.

6. The system will not boot.

7. Antivirus software will not load.

8. System startup takes longer than normal.

9. System performance degrades suddenly.

10. System errors, such as illegal operation errors, increase.

11. System resources (for example, floppy disks, USB ports) become unavailable for no apparent reason.
